Jeremy's autumn of content

We have had a busy summer; frivolity mixed with competitiveness at our July French quiz night; a record for our summer BBQ; the terrace in full swing for lunch and supper; weddings and celebrations and a BBQ and beer event to round off the end of August. 

In the kitchen our two young chefs, Jimmy Gray and Rob Lightbody, have battled it out in great spirit to make it past the first round of shortlisting in the Sussex Young Chef of the Year Award; only the top six, according to the public vote, will then make it into a 'masterchef' style cook-off in November at the new Amex Stadium in Brighton.  We are very proud of them and again, thank you to all who have taken the time and effort to vote for them, and for us in the Best Eating Experience category.  Voting closes on the 2nd October for the chefs so there is still some time for those who haven't yet, visit the Sussex Food and Drink Awards 2011/12 website.  Every vote is more than gratefully received!

Summer may be drawing to a close, John Keats embraced autumn, "thou has thy music too".  We have put together our ever-popular Thursday suppers which start on the 13th October with Italian evening and run until the end of November.  Autumn wouldn't be autumn without our Windfall menu, which becomes available from Tuesday 4th October until Saturday 26th November, 3-courses for £15.50 per person, Tuesday to Saturday lunchtimes and Wednesday evenings only.

As the nights draw in, we have taken the decision to bring forward our mid-week opening times by half an hour - so, from Tuesday 20th September we will open for supper at 7pm (Tuesday to Thursday inclusive).

Yes, Christmas is fast approaching.  The kitchen has put together a seasonal, pre-Christmas menu for the restaurant and Vera and her team at Cafe Elvira have finalised their menu.  We are taking bookings for Christmas parties and we have Jeremy's Christmas party night on Thursday 8th December with a 3-course festive dinner and dance DJ.  Do please contact Jo Philp for any special seasonal parties or events you may wish to organise.
