Jeremy's Best of Britain

Earlier this week, Tatler's Restaurant Editor, Jeremy Wayne, hosted this year's Tatler Restaurant Awards together with the launch of the magazine's Restaurant Guide, neatly wrapped around the June issue. To the charge that, in his opinion, 'foraging has had its day', he rattled through the accolades for the evening in front of an impressive audience of chefs, restaurant owners and critics.  Jeremy's was very happy to find its place in the Guide's Best of Britain Restaurants and one of only three listed for Sussex.

The early taste of summer brings its warmth and colour and the promise of even more home-grown inspiration for our kitchen this coming season, as more edible flowers and garden herbs find their way into dishes that define Jeremy's food style -"modern classics working with nature."

The first of the beautiful English asparagus has also just arrived - so succulent, fresh and flavourful, works a treat accompanied by a refreshing glass of Sauvignon. And with an abundance of wild garlic sprouting up along pathways and hedgerows, you may like to try our seasonal recipe of wild garlic and Sussex Slipcote cheese soup; the list of ingredients and method, along with tips on cooking asparagus, can be found here.

The first of the new season lamb will be available on the next tasting degustation menu this coming Tuesday, 7th May. Give us a call to make a reservation on 01444 441102 or please book online.

It is lovely to see the terrace being enjoyed on fine days, offering a one-course lunchtime Terrace Special, home-made bread and a glass of wine to match the dish for £14 as well as the Daily Menu, 2-courses £16 and 3-courses £19 and a la carte.

And on a final note, if you happen to be at a loose end this Bank Holiday, it's Bank Holiday jazz at Jeremy's featuring the popular jazz tones of session musician Mike Hatchard.  Lunch is a la carte, from 12 noon.  Please do book, by calling us on 01444 441102 or online.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
