Jeremy's darling buds

The temperature is rising at last and there is some hot stuff coming from the kitchen thanks to our young brigade led by Jimmy Gray whom we have re-entered into Sussex's young chef of the year competition and who must surely win this time.

The garden is starting to look a picture and its a joy to be using our own herbs and edible flowers at last. Vera has made wonderful nettle soup in the Cafe and Madi's new angelica and nutmeg custard tart is a delicious original twist on an old favourite.  Our Sharing Platter will be a must for the terrace with some really delicious new wines that we look forward to showing you.

Ciccio is soon celebrating his tenth year with us and he, like all our front of house team, must be congratulated on his loyalty.

We have great jazz leading into this coming Bank Holiday weekend. On Friday night we welcome Terry Seabrook (piano) and Paul Whitten (bass) with a broad mix of classic jazz and on Bank Holiday Monday we feature our good friend Bob Bernard, an accomplished jazz player on saxaphone, clarinet, flute and jazz piano.  From 12 noon, lunch is a la carte.  To make a reservation please either call us 01444 441102 or book on line.

We kick off our summer BBQ season with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebration on Monday 4th June with a BBQ and live jazz event and of course our annual summer BBQ on Sunday 8th July.  Please do call us or book on line to make a reservation. £30 per person for 2-course BBQ.

We look forward to seeing you throughout the summer to enjoy the best of ingredients on our menus.
