Jeremy's Spring table

Capricious spring, a beguiling season for all of us with the promise of light warmer days with magnolia and other tender blooms - fragile and beautiful, but prey to wind and late frost. Winter is past, yet not quite summer for chefs seeking inspiration through incoming ingredients.

As ever, in our quest for an exciting marriage of flavours we look to the south and the earlier warmth from Sicily and Provence, expressed in our perinally popular squid dish with caponata and aioli, saffron infused sauces and baby garlic for the fabulous Dover soles that are currently so plentiful from Brighton based day-boats.

Food for thought

Our walled garden already yields wild garlic for gnocchi and Angelica for delicate ice creams, with the promise of so much more produce this year thanks to Maggie and Sarah for planting and seeding new vegetables and herbs for the kitchen.

For now, we still rely on our suppliers to bring spring truffles, morels, dandelion salad to grace the Easter holiday table along with the fine rose veal from Fletching, beautifully prepared by head chef Jimmy. No sign yet of the milk lamb traditionally associated with the Easter table, but all of us look forward to making a holiday visit to Jeremy’s and Cafe Elvira a memorable occasion!     

Nominations are now open - Good Food Guide 2016

Readers' Restaurant of the Year 2016 - Jeremy's was the south east regional winner in 2013, we would dearly love to win it again.

The annual awards invite the public to nominate their favourite neighbourhood eateries across ten UK regions. Restaurants should be independently run and offer regional or local produce where possible. Ten regional winners will be announced based on the public nominations before the Good Food Guide judges declare their overall Readers’ Restaurant of the Year 2016.

A fundraising dinner on St.George's Day.

Cafe Elvira

Elvira's is now back to opening Monday's - so that is seven days a week, 9.30am to 5pm (last orders 4.30pm), serving morning coffees and pastries, full-English breakfast, freshly-made daily blackboard specials, including gluten-free choices as well as vegetarian options, and Sussex afternoon tea.

Experience Mid-Sussex - watch this space!

Jeremy’s Restaurant is proud to be a partner in the new Experience Mid Sussex campaign that launched on Friday 27 March at Kingscote Vineyard.

The promotion, supported by Mid Sussex District Council, celebrates the unique experiences to be had in our locality including vineyards, 4 and 5 star hotels, gardens and estates, equestrian venues and, of course, Jeremy’s Restaurant.

Over the summer the campaign will be promoted both regionally and nationally to raise awareness of the premium offering of our beautiful area of Sussex.
