Jeremy's team spirit

Well done to our team last week who handled business extremely well whilst Vera and I, together with friends and family, celebrated her birthday in Mallorca.  We have come to fall in love with this island over the last few years, particularly the magnificent village of Deia and nearby Soller.  Nineteen of us shared a joyful meal at Ca's Pato March in Cala Deia on a perfect Mediterranean evening.

We also experienced some extraordinarily good cooking at the unassuming Hotel Bisbe in Soller where chef Jose Luis and restaurant manager Fernando looked after us most royally.  So much so that we are looking forward to welcoming them for a special Mallorcan evening later in the year.

Our recent editorial in the local press covering the launch of our new apprenticeship scheme created a great deal of interest and as a result, we have just taken on three fine young apprentices to join us in the kitchen.  They will be working under the talented sous chef Jimmy Gray, who is a worthy finalist in this year's Sussex Food and Drink Awards, in the Young Chef Category.  He needs all our support to make it through to the cook-off so if you have a moment, voting is still going on and it is getting competitive.  May we please prevail upon you to text your support by texting the words CHEF 2004 to 65400.  If he wins, we promise to give you a celebratory glass on the announcement of his victory.
