Jeremy's welcomes 2015

Bumping into former left-arm England bowler and now TV personality Phil Tufnell at the ski hire shop brought back memories of him enjoying our toffee pudding following a county match at Hove.  We subsequently named a dessert for a dinner hosted by the late Christopher Martin-Jenkins as "Tuffers Toffee Pudding." Sadly we didn't have the opportunity to share a Sachertorte with him in Innsbruck.

Head chef Jimmy flew to South Africa with some of the kitchen crew (not deliberate, just by chance) where he has been tweeting about some great food discoveries on his travels.  We look forward to seeing some of these influences in a few key dishes, perhaps, this summer.

Front-of-house Jo chose to visit the Ise of Wight, which is not only famous for cliff-top walks and beaches but great local produce too and Cyril has just returned from a short break in his beloved France.

The year ahead

All refreshed and looking forward to the year ahead, we open for lunch on Friday 16th January and back to normal business hours as we speed into 2015.

And don’t forget our belated Burns’ Night celebratory Supper on Tuesday 27th January when the Highlands visits High Weald! Call us or book on line. £47.50 per person for 4-courses.

Check out forthcoming events.

On trend

Through our new alliance with the good people at Brighton and Hove Food Festival and The International Chef Exchange we will be involved in a few more events this year which will showcase the great culinary diversity of the county. The current trend for chef exchanges and pop-up restaurants offers encouragement for chefs and producers to work together and share ideas in a stimulating environment. A far cry from the bad old days of chefs jealously guarding recipes.

Jimmy and I loved cooking his amazing menu in Sweden and then hosting a return dinner over here with the talented young Swedish chef Christofer. Not a new trend for Jeremy's of course!. Some of you may remember two notable events some years ago when Vera and I cooked at Maison Vieille in Courmayeur and subsequently Piedmont. Matteo Ascheri's generous introduction to the wonders of white Alba truffles remain the culinary highlight of our lives. Seriously!

We look forward to continuing our working relationship with Mardi and Tom at Ridgeview and thank them for their generosity in 2014

Vouchers

Don't forget to pick up our special A La Carte dine for £23 voucher when you next visit us.It is extremely good value and a great way to try, if you haven't already, some interesting dishes on the menu.
