What an uplifting time, the arrival of the first affordable English asparagus.
Hats off to Jimmy Gray - crowned Sussex Young Chef of the Year at a prestigious black-tie awards dinner at the Amex Stadium last week. The judges recognised the excellent cooking of this modest and gifted young man, who saw off his talented rivals. Following on the heels of The Good Food Guide regional Readers' Restaurant of The Year Award, it's fair to say that all the team are in high spirits and have a taste for further triumphs.
We are back in business (snow notwithstanding) following our annual recharge and looking forward to an upbeat year ahead with excitement growing as head chef, Jimmy Gray, finds out if he has nailed Sussex Young Chef of the Year at the Sussex Food and Drink Awards 2012/13 later this month.
Seasons greetings from all of us here at Jeremy's and Cafe Elvira. As a special award-winning year for us comes to an end, all of our team are working hard to deliver something of the true spirit and magic of Christmas - at the very least, a haven from the helter skelter build up to the big day.
Christmas is not just a festive time of year but also a very popular time for engagements; this year, we thoroughly enjoyed hosting a large number of weddings, family gatherings and special celebrations at Jeremy's and look forward to the same next year; 2013 doesn't need to be thought of as unlucky, Jeremy will tell you it was lucky for him, he was born on Friday 13th!!
