Hats off to Jimmy Gray - crowned Sussex Young Chef of the Year at a prestigious black-tie awards dinner at the Amex Stadium last week.  The judges recognised the excellent cooking of this modest and gifted young man, who saw off his talented rivals.  Following on the heels of The Good Food Guide regional Readers' Restaurant of The Year Award, it's fair to say that all the team are in high spirits and have a taste for further triumphs.

I am very proud of Jimmy's achievement and really believe we now have a team capable of delivering a Michelin star.  Whilst it has not previously been a major obective of ours, we have seen recently that the nature of the guide has changed; no longer do stars go only to luxurious palaces of gastronomy, but now more relaxed establishments with excellent cooking being justly recognised.  A signal of intent!

The response to our Good Food Guide Regional Readers' Restaurant of the Year special celebratory dinner on Thursday 21st March has been huge and therefore am delighted to announce a second date for Thursday 28th March, just ahead of the Easter weekend. Bookings now being taken, so please either call us on 01444 441102 or book online.

Meanwhile, we begin to get our preparations for the spring season in full swing so do please check our website for up and coming events, including the first gluten-free pop up on Monday 25th February, in conjunction with chef Holly Taylor of Pure Taste.  Lunch or dinnner.   Please visit her website for further dates and to make bookings.

We also kick-start our return to monthly Friday evening jazz with the easy-to-listen jazz musicians Nigel Thomas and Simon Robinson on Friday 1st March.  To make a reservation, please either call us on 01444 441102 or book online.

Thank you all for your continuing support.
