She has the French way of delivering Edith Piaf in a magnificent, easy-to-listen-to jazz style and on Friday 1st April we welcome the celebrated Edith Piaf tribute, vocalist Sam Chara and her guitarist Lyle Bing, to accompany our a la carte menu. From 8pm onwards, to make a reservation please either call 01444 441102 or book on line.
Our menu of the day, which we launched at the beginning of this year, is proving a great success and enormous value if you want to meet up with friends or colleagues, available lunchtimes Tuesday to Saturday and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
I was recently asked for my wild garlic and Sussex Slipcote cheese soup - with watercress - so here it is for anyone who feels like trying it! I love the combination of flavours of the first green shoots of wild garlic and local, mild creamy sheep's milk cheese with a nice touch of acidity. Warming for the still-chill days of March, with a hint of spring, which can be accentuated by blending the soup with watercress. And as warmer days arrive, the heady aroma of the wild garlic will announce itself in profusion from pathways everywhere as the easiest of all freely foraged foods. Click here for the recipe.
The current a la carte promotion runs out at the end of March so if you do not have a voucher in your possession, log in to our special offers page and download a copy to take up the offer. Available Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Also, do watch out for our next spring/summer mid-week loyalty offer coming soon; dine a la carte for £21 per person to include canape, coffee and petit fours.
And as a diary reminder, Cafe Elvira returns to opening seven-days a week from this coming Monday, serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea.
As always, we look forward to seeing you soon.
