For those enjoying the relaxed pleasures of an English summer at home, here's a quick update on news at Jeremy's.
Firstly, thank you very much if you took part in our recent Degustation tasting menu competition. We nearly have the makings of a full, 6-course menu with very credible contributions for starters and puddings, in particular, but bearing in mind we are giving away 5 meals (it must have been the heat of the moment!), there is still time to put up some more suggestions before we close the competition at the end of the month. Forgive me if I failed to clarify the terms of entry, which simply call for use of ingredients, particularly vegetables and fruits, which are now at their best. Hence, I'm afraid, I would disqualify a dish that included morels and asparagus, however delicious it might sound!
With some of the first ripe blackberries spotted already, our thoughts turn to events in early autumn. Don't miss our prestige 3-course dinner on Thursday 16th September, in which we unveil the fabulous champagnes of Henriot in the charismatic company of Joelle Marti-Baron with a suitably luxurious menu that includes arrival aperitif of ROSE NV champagne with canapes of home smoked salmon and prawn cocktail in dill jelly. The menu that follows is parfait of foie gras and chicken livers with cep salad in white truffle dressing accompanied by a most delicious Blancs de Blancs. Main course is breast and confit leg of free range guinea fowl with a spiced plum sauce matched by a ripe and spicy 1998 Vintage. A demi sec for dessert will be paired with roasted pineapple, lime pannacotta, passion fruit syrup and tuille. Coffee to follow and all this for £70 per person including a selection of champagnes. 7.30pm for 8pm. Do book early to avoid disapointment.
Tuesday suppers, formerly known as Thursday suppers, begin on 12th October through to the end of November. From the beginning of October, our Degustation tasting menu will be on the first Tuesday of every month.
And a quick reminder that the wonderful, authentic Bem Brasiliero will be playing the Brazilian vibes for us at our August Bank Holiday jazz. Bar opens from 12 noon and lunch is a la carte.
