Jeremy's restaurant crew are refreshed and raring to go as we embrace the challenge of remaining the top Mid Sussex dining spot in 2012. Vera and I have reacquainted ourselves with the pleasures of simple Italian mountain dishes and enjoying the slopes in the beautiful Dolomites, whilst our chefs have variously been feasting in Barcelona, The Ledbury (very jealous!) and The Cinnamon Club - so plenty of culinary influences there to kick start our reopening tomorrow night - Friday 13th January.
Seasonal greetings and thanks from all of us at Jeremy's and Cafe Elvira as another year draws to a close. We are deeply grateful to our hard working team and loyal clientele for enabling us to hold our own in these tough trading times. We have tried hard to 'up our game' this year and we'll continue to work on our essential ingredients of a warm welcome, value for money and delivering tasty, imaginative food. The proof's in our Christmas pudding!
On such a winter's day - as the famous song goes - although it would now appear that California is fast becoming known for another phenomenon - its cuisine. With around 300 wineries in the Napa Valley and 9 Michelin-star restaurants, the fast evolving Californian cuisine is worth taking a look at.
Topsy turvy late summer heat calls for some reworking of dishes as our chefs look forward to autumn and winter ingredients. Don't knock it, I say, but then so much of what we do at Jeremy's and Cafe Elvira is inspired by idyllic sojourns in the Med, so we'll keep the estate-bottled olive oil flowing a little longer. Even so, Vera and her team have just made the first batch of Christmas puddings!
We have had a busy summer; frivolity mixed with competitiveness at our July French quiz night; a record for our summer BBQ; the terrace in full swing for lunch and supper; weddings and celebrations and a BBQ and beer event to round off the end of August.
