Et maintenant...... we turn our attention to the cradle of gastronomie, la belle France. The French revolution changed almost every aspect of French life; politics, economics and of course la cuisine. "Let zem eat cake!"....."and off with their 'eads". So why not this year celebrate Bastille Day in true French style chez Jeremy with our local wine expert Charles Metcalfe.
In the words of Nancy Sinatra's hit song of almost fifty years ago....."Strawberries, cherries and an angel's kiss in spring..... my summer wine is really made from all these things." Nothing much has really changed since then. Once again, it's time to break out the best of those summer wines, and the prospect is as delectable as ever!
T.S. Eliot was wide of the mark for this year in asserting that "April is the cruelest month". Holidays, celebrations and sunshine galore brought solace and welcome trade to businesses across the county. Oh ye gods of the great British weather, we are most truly grateful. Mark you, we will surely pay for it later!
