We had such a great day at the London presentation of The Good Food Guide Readers' Restaurant of the Year Awards last month; Vera chatted to Angela Hartnett and we rubbed shoulders with the good and the great of the foodie world and although we didn't scoop the national award, we are extremely proud of our achievement as winner of the South East regional award.
Closer to home, we have been very fortunate to have had the lovely Maggie Lamb work her 'green finger' magic on our garden in time for her daughter's wedding at Jeremy's in early August. We have reaped the rewards of her labour and now that the sun has reappeared our flower beds are bursting with bloom as a result of her clever planting. There's never been a better time for lunch on the terrace at Jeremy's!
We have also been busy planning our autumn programme of wine dinners and events and yes, our pre-Christmas menu! Our autumn line-up includes the return of our Thursday suppers together with a series of wine evenings in conjuction with some very fine European wineries. The first wine dinner is our Dine with Bordeaux evening on Thursday 27th September in the company of local wine expert Charles Metcalfe - four lovely Bordeaux wines from our list will be paired with a four-course menu, including an arrival aperitif and canapé, wines, coffee and petit fours. 7.30pm for 8pm.
On Thursday 25th October, Anne Roque will host an evening of wines from estates across the south of France, again, carefully matched with a specially-crafted four-course menu. Our last wine dinner before the Christmas party season will be hosted on Thursday 15th November by Roberto Rodriguez, pairing the wines of Bodegas Palacio in Rioja and other delicious wines from northern Spain with a sumptuous Spanish feast created by Jeremy and the team. Our wine dinners are all priced at £60 per person, including an arrival aperitif, canapé, wines, coffee and petit fours. To book please either call 01444 441102 to make your reservation or book online.
And just a quick reminder that we'd love to see you at our annual August Bank Holiday BBQ with live jazz on Monday 27th August. Two-course lunch £30 per person, from 12 noon. Please either call or book online to make your reservation.
One final note, voting for the Sussex Food and Drink Awards 2012/13 marches on and this year our young chef Jimmy Gray has been nominated in the Sussex Young Chef category. The competition is extremely tough this time so, as always, we very much appreciate your time to vote and if you haven't had the chance yet, please visit http://www.sussexfoodawards.biz/, click on the Vote button and follow the steps.
We look forward to seeing you soon,
With best wishes,
Jeremy, Vera and the team
